Description
The site of Colonial Inn & Extended Stay Suites was originally built in 1716 and has operated as a hotel since 1889. An enduring landmark of hospitality in historic Concord, Massachusetts, the Inn, which overlooks Concord's Monument Square and sits 18 miles from downtown Boston, is easily accessible to neighboring corporate parks, the 128 belt and Interstates 95 and 495. The Colonial Inn is a National Trust Historic Hotel of America, and a guestbook on display shows Franklin D. Roosevelt's signature among notable past visitors. The inn exudes the warmth and grace of a New England home, and within a mile are the former residences of literary figures including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Louisa May Alcott, as well as the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery where they were buried. Also less than a mile away is the Old North Bridge, where the "shot heard 'round the world" was fired.
Guests will enjoy the Liberty Restaurant, located in the Main Inn, or the outdoor porch for casual dining. For a more formal atmosphere, dine in at the Merchant's Row Restaurant the Sunday brunch is recognized as the best west of Boston. The Forge Tavern has complimentary entertainment during the week featuring the area's best jazz, Dixieland, blue grass and country.
The guestrooms at the Colonial Inn combine history and tradition with modern amenities such as complimentary wireless internet access, voicemail and cable TV. Encompassing several buildings, the 56 guestrooms each have a unique character. Rooms are individually decorated in Colonial era style with hand picked antiques and reproductions, patterned wallpaper, colorful draperies, and decorative details such as gilded mirrors or handmade quilts. Room 24 has a reputed ghostly standing witnesses over the years claim to have seen apparitions, but so far, none of them have booked the room over the Internet. |
